The dog days of summer are on the way, and soon you’ll need to fend off the summer sun from turning your plants to a crisp. Unfortunately, sometimes our attempts to save our plants can end up harming them even more. - Water consistently and slowly. It can be tempting to give your plants as much water as possible during those extremely hot summer days. But it’s important to be careful with how much water you’re giving your plants. Watering too much and too quickly can drown your flowers. Instead, you want to be sure to water your plants slowly by the roots. This ensures that your plan has the opportunity to absorb the water. Water your plants consistently and deeply every week.

The ground can get hot and dry during the summer months, which can cook your plants’ roots. Do your best to mulch around your plants while keeping away from the stems. This will keep the soil moist and cool. However, while it’s good to mulch your plants at this time of year, it’s important not to fertilize them. But fertilizer encourages plants to grow, which can take away the plant’s ability to sustain itself in high temperatures.
